Let's Fix The NHS: Our Mission and Vision

The goal of Let's Fix The NHS is to unite people to find, discuss, evaluate, and act on proposals—both small and large—with the aim of transforming and improving the NHS. The name itself reflects our ambition.

Bold Ideas for Bold Change

Fixing the NHS sounds ambitious, doesn’t it? It is—but every major change starts somewhere. The path forward requires numerous innovations implemented simultaneously and swiftly. However, many of the changes we need face resistance from stakeholders with conflicting views and agendas. Bureaucracy, while often well-intentioned, has grown to the point where some processes and procedures have become self-serving, costly, and, in some cases, harmful—leading to needless loss of life and quality of care.

A Root-and-Branch Approach

We believe a comprehensive analysis is essential to determine what should remain and what must change. Tackling unhelpful bureaucracy and rolling out bold ideas is no easy task. This is why we need widespread support and a multi-faceted approach to drive meaningful reform.

Breaking Past Barriers

To achieve real progress, we must take routes quite different from those pursued in the past. Too often, discussions about NHS reform are met with apathy (“We’ve tried that before”), anger, suspicion, or narrow agendas that hinder meaningful change. The health of a nation is an emotional subject, and when untimely deaths or delayed treatments are involved, emotions understandably run high.

Systemic Change for Sustainable Solutions

True reform requires a focus on systemic issues to achieve win-win outcomes. Balancing emotion with rigorous system analysis is critical to ensure every angle of proposed changes is considered, their consequences understood, and all voices—professional and public—heard or fairly represented. System innovation might not seem exciting, but it is vital for achieving meaningful, long-lasting improvements.

An Open Call for Bold Ideas

Our approach centers on an open call for bold ideas. We aim to bring together professionals and laypersons to participate in broad, fair, and transparent discussions. These discussions will evaluate the most promising proposals and the individuals driving them.

From Ideas to Action

Proposals and innovations will undergo thorough discussion and virtual stress testing. The goal is to identify and support the best ideas, helping them gain momentum toward acceptance, implementation, and ultimately contributing to the improvements we all wish to see in the NHS.
